NEET UG 2026 Re-Exam: NTA Tightens Security, Issues Fresh Guidelines Ahead of June 21 Test. With the NEET UG 2026 re-examination just around the corner, authorities have intensified preparations to ensure the smooth and transparent conduct of one of the country’s biggest entrance tests.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released a detailed advisory for candidates appearing in the June 21 re-exam, while the National Medical Commission (NMC) has simultaneously issued instructions to medical colleges across the country to maintain vigilance and support efforts aimed at preserving the integrity of the examination.
Massive Preparations Underway
According to the NTA, more than 22 lakh candidates are expected to participate in the re-examination, which will be conducted in pen-and-paper mode from 2 PM to 5:15 PM. Special provisions have been made for candidates entitled to compensatory time.
To manage the examination smoothly, thousands of observers, city coordinators, invigilators, and support personnel have been deployed. Authorities are also working with police departments and district administrations to ensure secure transportation of confidential materials.
Strict Security Measures Introduced
After the controversies surrounding the earlier examination, the agency has strengthened security arrangements considerably.
Mandatory frisking, Aadhaar-based biometric verification, CCTV surveillance, GPS-tracked movement of exam materials, and centralized monitoring systems have been put in place. Candidates facing biometric verification issues due to technical reasons will undergo manual identity verification instead of being denied entry.
The NTA has also warned students against rumours, fake messages, and alleged paper leak claims circulating on social media.
WhatsApp Alerts and Admit Card Reminders
In a first-of-its-kind initiative, the agency has started sending exam-related information through verified WhatsApp channels, along with SMS and email notifications reminding students to download their admit cards.
Officials clarified that only messages sent from authenticated sources should be trusted. Candidates have been advised not to click on suspicious links or share personal information, OTPs, or payment details with anyone claiming to represent the NTA.
The agency has also clarified that admit cards issued for the earlier examination are no longer valid, and candidates must use the fresh admit cards generated for the re-exam.
Dress Code and Entry Instructions
Candidates have been instructed to wear light clothing and simple footwear. High heels, heavy jewellery, metallic accessories, smartwatches, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, and other electronic gadgets will not be permitted inside examination centres.
Students wearing religious attire such as turbans or hijabs will be allowed entry but have been advised to report early to facilitate additional security checks. Transparent water bottles are permitted, and candidates may also carry their admit cards inside transparent plastic pouches to protect them during the monsoon season.
Reporting Time and Documents Required
Candidates are required to report between 11 AM and 1:30 PM. Entry gates will close sharply at 1:30 PM, and no candidate arriving later will be allowed to enter the examination centre.
Students must carry:
- Printed copy of the NEET UG 2026 admit card
- One original photo identity proof
- Two passport-size photographs
- Transparent water bottle (optional)
Diabetic candidates are permitted to carry sugar tablets and fruits such as bananas, apples, or oranges as per the prescribed guidelines.
NMC Advises Medical Colleges to Remain Alert
Meanwhile, the National Medical Commission has instructed medical colleges and institutions to remain vigilant and sensitize students against activities that could compromise the fairness of the examination process. The Commission has also advised institutions not to grant leave to students on June 20 and 21 except under exceptional circumstances.
Officials say the measures are aimed at ensuring transparency and restoring confidence in the examination system.
As the countdown to June 21 begins, candidates have been advised to focus on their preparation, follow official instructions carefully, and avoid falling prey to misinformation circulating online.
