NEET UG 2026 Fee Refund Portal Activated, Students Asked to Submit Bank Details Before May 27.Thousands of NEET UG aspirants across the country can finally begin the fee refund process after the National Testing Agency (NTA) activated the official refund portal for NEET UG 2026 candidates. The move comes weeks after the cancellation of the May 3 medical entrance examination due to the ongoing paper leak controversy.

Students who appeared for the cancelled exam can now log in to the official NEET portal and submit their bank account details to receive their examination fee refund. The refund window opened on May 22 and will remain available till May 27, 2026, up to 11:50 PM.

The decision has brought some relief to lakhs of students and parents who have been dealing with uncertainty ever since the exam was cancelled. Many candidates had been waiting for clarity regarding both the re-examination and refund process.

Students Need to Submit Bank Details Carefully

To complete the refund process, candidates must log in using their NEET UG 2026 application number and password. After accessing the refund section, students will have to enter important banking information including:

  • Account holder name
  • Bank account number
  • IFSC code
  • Bank name

The NTA has also given students the option to upload a scanned cancelled cheque to avoid errors during refund processing.

Officials have clearly stated that once the details are submitted, no corrections or edits will be allowed later. Students are therefore being advised to double-check all information before final submission.

Refund Process Started After Exam Cancellation

The refund process follows one of the biggest controversies in recent NEET history. The NEET UG 2026 examination, conducted earlier this month, was cancelled after allegations of a question paper leak surfaced in multiple states.

Investigating agencies are currently examining the matter, while reports suggest that leaked question papers may have been circulated through online messaging platforms before the examination.

Following the controversy, the government and NTA announced that a fresh NEET UG re-examination would be conducted on June 21, 2026. Authorities have also confirmed that candidates will not be charged any extra fee for the re-test.

Over 22 Lakh Students Affected

NEET UG remains India’s largest medical entrance examination, with more than 22 lakh candidates appearing every year for admission into MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses.

The sudden cancellation of the exam created massive stress among students, especially those preparing for competitive medical admissions for several years. Social media platforms were flooded with reactions from students demanding transparency and faster updates from authorities.

Education experts believe the refund initiative is an attempt to reduce frustration among candidates while preparations for the re-exam continue.

NTA Issues Important Advisory

The NTA has advised students and parents not to initiate any bank chargeback requests related to the NEET examination fee. Instead, candidates should complete the official refund process through the designated portal.

Students facing technical issues during the submission process can contact the official NTA helpline or email support for assistance.

  • Last date to submit bank details: May 27, 2026
