There will be no change in NEET UG 2021 Exam Pattern this year. This test is mainly conducted to admit eligible students to various medical colleges. The test will be a pen-paper test and expected to be held in the month of June or July 2021.
According to the secretary of Higher Education, Amit Khare, it will be unfair to introduce any changes in the test on short notice. Also, delaying the test will affect the new session.
The Education Ministry proposed that the test of NEET UG should be conducted more than one time in a year via online mode, that is, on computers.
However, the consensus was not reached with the Health Ministry on the proper time. As the JEE (Main) is conducted more than once a year, about 28 percent of candidates’ scores were improved (based on 2020’s results) in the 2nd attempt. Thus the same exam pattern has also demanded the NEET UG.
According to Amit Khare (News Source), the NEET UG should be conducted more than one time a year because it might be possible sometimes that the student cannot concentrate properly in a particular attempt for the test, and this should not result in a year’s wastage as a consequence.
However, this pattern of multiple tests will not be suitable if the test will be conducted in pen and paper mode. Thus, it should be a computer-based test.
He also said that if multiple attempts are offered in NEET UG, and the test is arranged on computers, a consultation must be done with all stakeholders. This is because the exams NEET and JEE are different.
The JEE is not mandatory for all engineering colleges, but NEET is compulsory for the students to be admitted to all medical colleges.
Also, this might be the case that a student of Biology might not be comfortable with the computer, and practice might be required. Hence, for any kind of changes to be made, a minimum of 6 to 8 months, notice will be provided.
Khare also said that the date of the NEET UG 2021 would be declared very soon.
