National Common Mobility Card:- 8 important things that you need to know about NCMC

Honorable PM of India Mr. Narendra Modi has come up with a new digital initiative of “One Nation One Card” called National Common Mobility Card or commonly known as NCMC.

The NCMC Card is an ingeniously developed card that will enable citizens of the country to make all kinds of payments online such as transportation payment, payment of parking, grocery, toll & transit, retail charges, etc.

It will support offline transactions also. It is mainly designed for seamless transport. It will be valid for the Delhi Airport Express line which runs from New Delhi to Dwarka Sector 21 to 23 km long.  As per the reports, the card will be available by the year 2022.

A total of 25 banks in the country along with Paytm Payments Bank across will issue the cards. These cards are merged with the RuPay cards by using which people can apply for the Metro services across India. 

The citizens of India will be able to apply for the One Nation One Card once the concerned authorities start the application procedure. The application procedure will be done in online mode.

All the citizens of India are permitted to apply for the application. Also, note that there is no information available about the application procedure or even about the official portal. 

Significance of the card:

  1. With the help of the NCMC card, multiple challenges related to cash payment can be avoided such as revenue leakages, cash handling, cash reconciliation, etc.
  2. There are various initiatives that have been taken by the transit operators in order to digitize & automate the fare collection by using AFC System (Automatic Fare Collection System).
  3. It will save the time that is wasted by waiting in long queues at the ticket counters of various public transports such as bus services, metro services, local train services, etc.
