Colleges like the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), the National Institute of Design (NID), Pearl Academy, SMEAT, and others offer design as a degree of study. Candidates must pass the entrance exam to enrol in these colleges. Most of India’s design entrance tests are college-level, and to be selected for admission, candidates must pass two or three rounds of testing.

Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design (UCEED)

The Undergraduate Common Entrance Examination for Design is used for admission to the Bachelor of Design (B.Des) programmes at IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Guwahati, and IIITDM Jabalpur (UCEED).

Students who passed the 12th grade in 2022 (or an equivalent) or who took any stream (science, commerce, arts, or humanities) in 2023 are eligible to take the UCEED in 2023.

National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT)

The National Institute of Fashion Technology administers the examination (NIFT). It is one of the most well-liked planning tests, and it is offered once a year in 32 locations around the nation.

Candidates who wish to pursue a B.Des will need to pass two stages: Stage 1 (the CAT and GAT, or Creative Aptitude Test), and Stage 2 (the Situation Test).

To enable admission to undergraduate and graduate design programmes, the Indian Institute of Art and Design (IIAD) partners with Kingston School of Art at Kingston University (KSAKU) to conduct the IIAD entrance exam. The IIAD entrance exam can be taken online or offline from a student’s home.

Candidates who have completed their last year of study in any area and passed the class 12 test are eligible to apply for IIAD 2023.
