There are few details surrounding Madubuike’s passing, but his coach, Brown, claims that the incident happened around three hours into a drive back to Wichita from a game in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Madubuike was admitted to an ICU in a hospital in Fort Smith, but he died eight days later.
Brown called Madubuike “one of the most talented young men he’d ever had the pleasure to deal with” and a “hard worker.” On social media, Madubuike’s teammates also expressed their sorrow, remembering him as a “great young man” with a “heart of gold.”

Although Madubuike’s cause of death is yet unknown, the Newman neighborhood has been greatly affected by his passing. The university has established a fund to aid in paying for Madubuike’s funeral, and a vigil will be held on campus tonight in his honor.
Last weekend, a 21-year-old from Toronto, Canada, had what his coach described as a medical emergency and was transferred, hours later, on the way home to Wichita, to an intensive care unit in a hospital in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Eight days after a medical occurrence that doctors were unable to explain, Madubuike died.
The incident, according to coach Brown, happened in Panama, Oklahoma, a small hamlet close to the Oklahoma-Arkansas border, roughly three hours into the voyage. He claimed he was forbidden from talking about the circumstances of the incident. After calling for assistance, an ambulance was used to transport Madubuike to an ICU in a medical facility in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
The Wichita Soccer community and the entire campus entered a state of sorrow for a person who teammates and fellow students adored when Newman University broke the awful news on Monday.
