AUF launched a unique program in 2014 June for providing scholarship (Atul Maheshwari Scholarship) to the students for continuing their studies in a government institution and have a yearly family income of fewer than 1,50,000 rupees.
After that, the applications were accepted only in online mode. About 1 lakh students registered for the exam, and 70 thousand of them appeared for the exam.
Tremendous support was also received from various educational institutes, district administration and teachers. This competition has occurred in Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Jammu & Kashmir Punjab.

The candidates who have got more than 60 percent marks in the annual examination and are students of classes 9 to 12 will be eligible for the Atul Maheshwari Scholarship. The candidates’ family income must also be less than 1 lakh 50 thousand per year.
Total 36 candidates are selected for the scholarship, out of which 18 were students of class 9 and class 10 and received 30 thousand rupees each. Eighteen students were from class 11 and class 12 and received 50 thousand rupees. 2 of the students were blind, one from class 10 and the other from class 12.
The selection of the students is made based on a written examination and then an interview round.
The application procedure:
The students who want to apply for this scholarship can visit Amar Ujala, viz. https://foundation.amarujala.com/. They should keep with them all the critical documents while filling up the application form. The steps that are required to be followed for applying are as follows-
- The candidates must visit the Atul Maheshwari Scholarship webpage on the Amar Ujala’s official website, https://foundation.amarujala.com/.
- Then, they should sign up by clicking “New Here? Sign Up” option.
- To create the account, they should provide name, password and email ID.
- To validate the account, they must click on the link received by them on their email ID.
- After that, the candidates must sign in, and then they must fill up the application form very carefully and correctly.
- They must also upload all the required documents, and then they should finally submit their application form.

After the scholarships were announced, the students were invited to Delhi with their parents/guardians for two days. The students got a chance to know about how Amar Ujala works and how the newspaper is designed. They also have interacted with the Managing Director and the Senior Editors of Amar Ujala.
On the 2nd day, the students and the guardians were taken on a Delhi-Darshan trip which was a day-long trip. It was a memorable trip for them as in the evening, the Honourable Vice-President Mr Venkaiah Naidu felicitated the students.
The previous years’ batches were felicitated by Mrs Sumitra Mahajan, the Honourable Lok Sabha Speaker, and Mrs Smriti Irani, the then HRD Minister.
