The AIBE is a national-level test administered by the Bar Council of India to decide if provisionally enrolled advocates or recent law graduates have the requisite skills to practice law. The test assesses candidates’ analytical skills as well as their knowledge of basic legal concepts.
Until 2020, the exam was an open book exam, which required candidates to bring study materials into the testing center and use them to complete the report. Candidates will not be permitted to bring any research materials into the exam hall beginning with AIBE XVI 2021.
