NEET Re-Exam 2026 Row: Nagpur Student Gets Abu Dhabi Centre, NTA Calls It a Technical Glitch.Just a day before the NEET UG 2026 re-examination, the National Testing Agency (NTA) found itself facing fresh criticism after a student from Maharashtra’s Nagpur was allegedly allotted an examination centre in Abu Dhabi instead of his preferred city.

The incident, which quickly drew attention on social media, added to the concerns surrounding the conduct of this year’s medical entrance examination. While the NTA has acknowledged the issue and assured that it will be rectified, the episode has once again raised questions about the challenges involved in managing one of the country’s largest competitive examinations.

A Routine Admit Card Download Turned Into a Shock

For Abdullah Mohammad Talib, a NEET aspirant from Nagpur, downloading the admit card for the June 21 re-examination was supposed to be a routine exercise.

Instead, the family was left stunned after discovering that the exam centre mentioned on the hall ticket was located in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

According to family members, the student had applied for centres within Maharashtra and had never opted for an overseas examination centre. The unexpected allotment left the family worried, especially because international travel at such short notice was practically impossible.

Adding to the anxiety, the student reportedly does not even possess a passport.

Family Raises Concern Over the Error

The student’s father said the family was shocked after seeing the admit card and immediately contacted the NTA regarding the issue.

They explained that even travelling to another district on short notice could have posed difficulties, while arranging international travel within a day was out of the question.

For the family, the concern was not just about the mistake itself but also about the uncertainty it created ahead of one of the most important examinations in the student’s academic journey.

NTA Calls It a Technical Glitch

After the matter came to light, the National Testing Agency acknowledged the lapse and described it as a technical error.

Officials reportedly assured the family that the issue was being addressed and that a revised admit card with a centre in Nagpur would be issued before the examination.

The clarification brought relief to the student and his family, but the incident sparked wider discussions among aspirants regarding the examination body’s systems and grievance redressal mechanisms.

Fresh Questions Ahead of Re-Exam

The timing of the controversy has made it particularly sensitive.

The NEET UG 2026 re-examination itself is being conducted after the original exam was cancelled following allegations of irregularities. In recent weeks, authorities have introduced stricter security measures, conducted nationwide mock drills, and issued multiple advisories to reassure candidates about the integrity of the examination process.

Against that backdrop, even a single centre-allocation error has attracted significant attention.

A Reminder of the Scale of the Examination

Managing an examination involving more than 22 lakh candidates is an enormous logistical exercise. Experts point out that while isolated technical glitches can occur in systems handling such massive numbers, prompt correction and effective communication become equally important.

Candidates and parents often spend months preparing for these examinations, and last-minute errors can create unnecessary stress and confusion.

Focus Remains on the June 21 Re-Test

Despite the controversy, preparations for the NEET UG re-examination are continuing across the country.

Authorities have tightened security arrangements, strengthened verification procedures, and urged students to rely only on official communication.

For lakhs of aspirants, the focus now remains on the examination itself rather than the controversies surrounding it.

As for the Nagpur student, the immediate hope is simple—that an administrative error does not come in the way of a dream that has taken years of hard work to pursue.
