What is UTET?

The Uttarakhand Teacher Eligibility Test (UTET) is conducted by the Uttarakhand Board of School Education to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions in schools across the state.

The examination consists of two papers:

  • Paper I – For candidates intending to teach Classes I to V.
  • Paper II – For candidates intending to teach Classes VI to VIII.

Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria for both levels may appear in both papers.

UTET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should ensure they satisfy the required educational qualifications before applying.

Eligibility for Paper I (Primary Level)

Applicants should possess any one of the following qualifications:

  • Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks and a 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed./BTC).
  • Senior Secondary with 45% marks and a 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education as per NCTE norms.
  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a 4-Year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.).
  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a 2-Year Diploma in Special Education.
  • Graduation along with a 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education.

Eligibility for Paper II (Upper Primary Level)

Candidates should possess any one of the following qualifications:

  • Graduation with a 2-Year Diploma in Elementary Education.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks and B.Ed.
  • Graduation with 45% marks and B.Ed. as per NCTE guidelines.
  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a 4-Year B.El.Ed.
  • Senior Secondary with 50% marks and a 4-Year B.A.Ed./B.Sc.Ed.
  • Graduation with 50% marks and B.Ed. (Special Education).

Candidates appearing in the final year of the prescribed teacher education programmes are also eligible wherever applicable.

UTET 2026 Age Limit

No specific age limit has been prescribed for UTET 2026. Candidates must fulfill the required educational qualifications. Age relaxation, wherever applicable, will be provided according to government rules.
