Joint Entrance Examinations (Main) is one of the well-known national level entrance examinations in India. JEE Main is conducted in two stages by Central Board of Secondary Education Board. The aspiring students can seek admissions in undergraduate engineering or architecture courses in NITs, IITs and other renowned and affiliated institutions of India through this entrance exam, whereas IITs select the candidates for admissions through JEE Advanced stage examination.

The candidates who have qualified JEE Main will be eligible to take up the next stage which is JEE Advanced examination. There are a number of states which select the candidates through JEE Main and these states are Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Nagaland, and Odisha etc.

JEE Main Exam Application form 2018 & Schedule

The aspiring students can apply for JEE Main 2018 only through online mode by filling up the application form through the official website of JEE Main. The application forms for this exam will be issued from the 1st week of December 2018.

The candidates are required to fill all the necessary information accurately in the correct formats. Before the candidates fill up the application form they are suggested to get the JEE Main Information Bulletin for 2018 from the official website of the examination authority and read all the instructions given in the brochure carefully.

This information bulletin will be available on the online web portal of the board after the declaration of official notification for JEE Main 2018.  The last date of filling up the application form will be on last week of December 2017.

JEE Main 2018 Application fee structure

The application fee is mandatory to be paid in order to complete the application procedure. Candidates can pay the application fee either through online or offline mode. The aspirants can deposit the application fee either through online, net banking or e-challan.

On paying the fee online through credit card or debit card, some additional bank charges may be applicable during the transactions. It is to be noted that, in any case, the application fee is non-refundable and candidates are not supposed to claim it under any circumstances. Eligibility Criteria of JEE Main 2018 Exam

  • The students interested in appearing for JEE Main examination should have a glance at the eligibility criteria before applying for the examination. 
  • Candidates must be born on or after 1st October 1992 for General category and for reserved categories it is 1st October 1987.
  • The candidates must have qualified higher secondary examination or any other equivalent examination either in 2015 or 2016 (appearing candidates can also apply).
  • Candidates must have scored 50% of aggregate score in Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
  • And Next, The candidates must have opted for minimum 5 subjects in higher secondary grade.
  • The interested candidate can take up the examination of JEE Main in not more than three attempts.
  • Diploma holder (3 years) is also eligible to apply for JEE Main 2018.

JEE Main 2017 Exam Pattern (Paper 1 and Paper 2)

This examination will be conducted for two papers altogether. Candidates who are interested in seeking admission to B.Tech/B.E must apply for paper 1 and the candidates who are interested in seeking admission to B.Arch/B.Planning must apply for paper 2. As per the choice of candidate, they can appear for both the papers.

  • There will be 2 papers in JEE Main examination which is Paper I for engineering aspirants and Paper II for architecture aspirants.
  • Paper I constitute of total 90 MCQ questions from Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics.
  • And Paper II constitutes of total 82 questions- 30 questions from Mathematics, 50 questions from aptitude and 2 questions from drawing skills.

JEE Main 2017 Admit card and Expected Cut-Off

The admit card for JEE Main 2018 will be issued from March 2018. The students who have applied for the examination can keep a track of the notifications that are updated on the official website of JEE Main, and they are required to download the admit cards as soon as it is published online.

The minimum score that candidates are required to get in order to qualify the examination and get admission in the desired colleges of India is decided on the basis of the number of factors such as the number of candidates, the difficulty level of examination, etc. 

Expected cut-off marks for the candidates belonging to different categories are given below:

  • General candidates it is 105 marks
  • For OBC candidates it is 70 marks
  • SC candidates it is 50 marks
  • For ST candidates it is 44 marks
